Site 7
This property is currently in use as a two-storey Night Club. In order to maximise the development potential of the site, and having regard to the site's prominent location we consider the property could accommodate a landmark building of striking design and mixed use. This proposal fulfils these objectives and shows how the site could be developed to provide much needed residential and employment development in the area. However, the site has been designated as parking in connection with a proposed public tram system and the Council had secured Compulsory Purchase Powers to acquire the site for this purpose. Accordingly, they refused our planning application, but we disagree with the Council's stance particularly as it now appears it will be unable to secure Government funding for the tram system. As such we have appealed the refusal and this will be the subject of a Public Inquiry in 2007. |
